We act responsably!

I was a speaker at the conference "Social Responsibility in the 3I era - Innovation, Inspiration, Interaction". The project 'We act responsably!' aims to develop a national network of information multipliers and experience disseminators to promote the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and supporting initiatives in the field.

Recycling and composting

I have collaborated with the Regional Environmental Protection Agency (ARPM Sibiu) and Grønn Hverdag Norway on the pilot project 'Implementing home and school composting in the region of Saliște and Sibiel'. The objective was to reduce the amount of land filled biodegradable waste. I have given trainings and organised activities about composting, recycling, environmental awareness, local food and sustainable living. I have created networks for schools, teenagers, residents, pension holders and ngo's. Also I have organised creative workshops on recycling and future workshops.

In Romania I have been involved in several water and solar projects. I also regularly organise projects creating environmental awareness among the public. Some of them are:

• Supervision of the construction of a Eco-residency in Cisnadioara
• Groundwater research for a residency in Cisnadioara
• Project for the installation of a solar system in a church and associated buildings in Medias
• Drafting a technical specification and related project management for the installation of a solar system and thermopane windows in a Sibiu retirement home
• Feasibility study for municipal water supply system in Cisnadioara

Solar Cinema

CosyMo's Solar Cinema was on their European Tour and I have organised the event in Sibiu. It was Europe’s first traveling film-festival hosted by a mobile (open air) cinema that is powered entirely by solar energy. The tour was a cross border project which promoted cultural diversity through film and encouraged the use of sustainable energy in a different and inspiring way.

The Sibiu event took place on the 5th of August 2010 at 22:00 in park Sub Arini, on the grass field in front of Hotel Silva. The programme included 'Go Greener shorts', an international collection of shorts inspired by the theme of sustainability, climate change etc. and a selection of films from Greenpeace.

I've arranged the reservation of location, authorisations, design, printing and distribution of promotional material, press releases, etc.

Friends of Storks

On International Children's Day 2011 I organised together with Friends of Storks a basketball event where students of the National Colleges 'Octavian Goga' and 'Gheorghe Lazar' played against each other. There were performances of cheerleaders and a dance group. Money was raised from entrance fee, raffle and promotional materials.

In September 2009 I organised SibiuTwestival which raised money for Friends of Storks. Because of this event the City Hall of Cristian donated 2.000 m2 of land to build a care centre for wounded and abandoned storks. Now the land needs to be fenced and a quarantine and treatment zone will be set up. Friends of Storks also won a project with funds for promotional materials.

Friends of Storks received an office space in the wall of the fortified church of Cristian in which we have set up an information point. From here excursions can be made, including a climb in the tower of the church where an observation point with telescope is set up.

• Organization for tree planting actions at a kindergarten in Sibiu and in Park Magura in Cisnadie
• Project Adopt a river: remediation of river banks along the Olt river. Initiated by 'Asociata Salvati Dunarea si Delta', 'RomTelecom' and 'Apele Romana'

I worked as an environmental supervisor for Wareco Ingenieurs. I was responsible for the process management and verification of soil decontamination projects in North-Holland. The projects were executed for national and local authorities, project developers and private companies.

The projects included preparing sites for building by removing contaminated soil, replacing sewerage and drainage systems and installing sedimentation basins. These sites were contaminated with heavy metals, asbestos, hydrocarbons and/or mineral oils. Underground oil-tanks were cleaned up and removed. At all times I was responsible for safety regulations were met.

• Soil and groundwater decontamination of a former allotment complex and several industrial sites
• Soil and groundwater decontamination of former shipyards
• Construction of groundwater extraction systems in several harbors
• Construction of sewerages
• Soil decontamination at the new Amsterdam metro

During my study I participated in diverse project teams making plans, which most were to be implemented by water boards in The Netherlands.

The projects undertaken included:
